Well . It is what it is. If he wanted much more than $6 MM for three seasons then we had to pass. It may just give us more room to add at next years trade deadline. Hopefully Vegas overpaid.
We still have lots of centers. Scheif, Perreault, Little, Roslovic, Lowry, even Copp can play there.
Still like to add Matt Calvert if terms are reasonable. Possibly a trade for Aaron Dell makes sense. |

BTW....over the next few days might be the time we find out what Toby might actually be worth.to another NHL team..if anything. Probably a one year deal but if I were Toby I'd push for more term. IMHO...Anything north of $2 MM would be a massive overpay. |

Hopefully the Jets make a big move today! Erik Karlsson, let's get it done Chevy!!! |

Doing nothing today will be fine by me!!! Our team is stacked fellas!! Seriously we are still cup favorites without adding anyone today. |

By cup favorites, I assume you mean top four along with Tampa, Vegas, and maybe Nashville. Vegas just got better though and still have more cap room.
Agree if we do nothing we are still a young team which is one year older and more experienced, and right in the cup mix. Need a few small pieces still in a backup goalie and as I said earlier a guy like Calvert.
Edit: Colorado grabs Calvert for $2.8 MM....dohhhh. Cole and Calvert are excellent pickups for Avalanche. |

Leafs instantaneous cup contenders. They have the best Center depth in the league. Mathews, Tavares, Kadri..... |

I don’t think that Vegas got better, they’re going to be without Neal and Perron; the fairy tale has likely ended. My prediction is they miss the playoffs and end in the bottom third of the nhl.
Honestly though, good signing for Vegas, the fans will love Stats like the jets fans did this year.
Chevy knows that we couldn’t afford the term. I’d have done one year for 7 but three at 6.5 was an issue.
All the best Stats. |

Also Tavares now a Leaf !!! As I mentioned in another thread....that's been in the cards for years for those that know him. He always wanted to be a Leaf. He even took a discount to other offers to do it. |

I’m not sure that we lost Hendricks to the wild. I think the Jets didn’t have a roster spot for him. It was great to have him on the team, really liked when Chevy signed him last season |

Any chance we make a play for Brassard now that Stastny is off to Vegas? Pens just re-signed Sheahan and brought Cullen back in so they've definitely got an abundance of centers. Heard they've been trying to free up some cap space as well. Brassard only has a 3 mil cap hit next season |

Hutchinson gone too |

Brassard could be a good idea |

I say we go for O'Reilly or Erik Karlsson. |

Just no spots for him. It was very valuable having here for a year. So many guys learned so much about motivation and leadership it will definitely pay future dividends down the road. Especially the younger guys on the team who couldn't stop talking about what a difference he made to them , like Dano, Copp, and Tanev.
I wish it wasn't a rival team that picked him up though.
Im not exactly emamored with the fact that Brossiot is now our backup goalie.....scary thought if Helle gets injured. |

Looks like we are going to lose Matthias as well. |

I'd have preferred Hutchinson to Lauren Bonesnott. Wasn't impressed with him in EDM. |

OK Chevy. Get back to work on signing our RFA's !
I'm giving you a D grade overall so far this summer which is based on factors such as the draft, the trade, lack of RFA signings, and efforts to get rid of the dead weight players on the Jets. Mason trade was a C+. Brossoit acquisition an F. Not grabbing Calvert an F. Not signing Statsny the minute he said he wanted to remain a Jet and allowing him to shop around....D. Keeping Dano ...F . |

Being very hard oh him.
F for not getting Calvert? Common now, he is an aging slightly better Hendricks, I’d been ok with it but can’t be graded for not.
All back up goalies are back ups for a reason, I’ll wait before judging this one
Not resigning Hendricks and mathias gets an A
The mason Armia trade was needed to sign these RFA’s so that’s a B+
Not overpaying Stastny is also a B+
Not trading Trouba and extending Myers yet is an A++++++++++ 😛 |

This is the worst time to trade Dano or Petan |

Not a good idea. Just let Roslovic take the job. We shouldn’t be trading for slightly overpaid centers nearing, or at, the end of their prime with Little already on the team |

Alarming Loss.
They can look to other UFAs like Camelleri, Grabovski or Vermette if the don't think Rozlovich is ready. |

I am more shocked with how little St. Louis had to pay for O'Reilly. We could have easily had him. |
